Sinclairville Baptist Church exists to glorify God by exalting the Lord Jesus Christ through the making and maturing of disciples who are becoming more like Him. This purpose is clearly articulated in the Great Commission given to the church by her risen Lord, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you” (Matthew 28:19–20).
The goal of making disciples is accomplished by proclaiming the message of salvation by faith in Christ and repentance from sin; by making the gospel message a regular part of our services; by welcoming the unsaved and kindly communicating to them their need of salvation; by communicating the gospel through personal and corporate outreach ministries; and by supporting worldwide missions through sending and financially supporting like-minded, Bible-believing missionaries.
The goal of maturing disciples is likewise accomplished through the preaching and teaching of the Word of God in a way that emphasizes personal godliness and conformity to Christlikeness; by equipping every member of this body to do the work of the ministry; by emphasizing personal Bible study; by confronting sin in a loving manner; by exposing false teaching and false teachers; by endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace; by cooperating with parents in the spiritual nurturing of their children; and by promoting godly fellowship among believers.
We believe that these goals are God’s intended purpose for the church and that it is the making and maturing of disciples in the likeness of Jesus Christ that glorifies our Lord. Therefore, it is our desire to “…proclaim [Christ], admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ.” Colossians 1:28
